Default Best Mission Run Ever

I must say this was the best mission run for me so far. Surely, most have had those moment.. but still it doesn't happen very often in pugs.

Ring of Fire. We start out with 8 people. We take the tough/long route and about 10-20 minutes into the mission, a necro drops out for a reason. No big deal there really as I am a necro as well. We then run into some imps and one warrior agros a bunch and gets himself and a few others killed. He starts spamming the team channel with nonsense. We pull back. Another warrior drops out. We res all but that spamming fool. Put him on ignore and continue with 5 non-melees: 2 monks, 2 rangers and 1 necro (me). After a while that guy apparently got bored and left, his loss as he could have finished the mission without doing much. Anyhow, after we lost 3 players it all got better. Surely we weren't proceeding as fast as you normally would with 8 people, but at least we had things organized and stayed together. So slowly but surely we finished the mission.

All in all was a great fun playing with those guys. And it surely brought something new to the game for me. Once again, thanks to those 4 guys, they know who they are.

Ahh, that's the sign of a true PuG. Nothing tests a PuG's strength better than its ability to adapt to increasing troubles. You guys earned that win.

Congrats! Thanks for making such a positive post as well. It's always fun to hear when the group overcomes the odds.

I had a similair experience a while ago on thunderhead keep, and I know how great it feels to have that sense of accomplishment when you see that gold shield.

Also had something like that happen on Hell's Precipice, though I don't think anyone dropped. It was more like everyone was learning new things, and we finally got it all together. Well except at the end.. but hey, we made it! ... After two hours.

I will never understand why people leave a mission just because they died. I've had a couple times where I and another person or two died and no one else had a rez left, so we had to stay dead for the rest of the mission. Then the rest of the guys finish the mission with me laying there dead.

I have lost count of the number of missions that were successful after people dropped out. It may take longer and require more team work, but sometimes a "team" of 5 can outplay a "group" of 8

This ends up being the case more often than not.

actually -- it's a team of 5 can outplay a "mob" of 8...

seriously -- this works in real life too, it's why a well-disciplined smaller army (like the Israelis during the 60s-70s) were able to beat much bigger more disorganized armies...

I definitely agree. In the last few missions I managed to win even with 4 people. The sweetest win was Hell's Precipice; I was playing as an earth ele and there was a blood ritual R/N and 2 monks left when we finished. The last boss didn't like earth damage and the mission ended quite quickly even with only 2 damage dealers. Another time I was doing Ring of Fire, we had a w/mo who only had healing spells; he wasn't even infused and had 60 dp by the time we were halfway through. A few dropped out but we still passed the mission.

Hey Wolver1ne!

Yup, it made our day also! The two deepest moments was when the spamming fool aggrod the other lava imp bunch on us, and of course the 30 minute battle with the monk boss on the end...i really was wandering if we can do that. And hey we did it!
But the thing is that the team of 5 worked better than the team of 8 we started off with.

Oh, and we are doing Abbadons today, if you havent done it yet. (We tried it later on but we had a Wa/Mo on team who insisted on being a protection monk )

Cheers,
Opal

I had a great one last night with henchies no less.

I am bringing a monk PvE along who is now lvl 12 and was near the end of Frost Gate Mission and had already activated two of the three switches to open the gate. Couldn't find the third for some reason (hadn't done this one in a while). Anyway a gate opens and there is a huge group of Stone Summit on top of the hill and I figured the switch was up there. I try to break the group up with a pull but about ten of them swarm me and my henchies and I was the last one standing with five or so pounding on me and I try to run away with about 10% of my hit points left I get out of range.

One howler chases me but I get far enough away to heal and go back after him. I get into a one on one slugfest with the howler and eventually win. I sneak back up to the dead henchies rez a couple and run away with them again, bringing along a couple of howlers and beat them. Finally, I rez the rest of the henchies and clear the area.

Come to find out after another fifteen minutes of searching that the third switch was outside the gate anyway. It was a long mission so I didn't want to start over and was glad to get it done.

Escaping that group, rezing my henchies, and coming back to win was probably the most satisfying moment playing solo I've had yet.

I was doing the mission with the infusion run with a friend named Steehl. He's a warrior and I'm a monk. Anyway, every single person dropped out except for the two of us and we got all the way to the end, killed everyone up to Markus.

He's banging away at Markus and I'm healing, If I'd known we would be the only two I'd have brought some offense but as it was I had nothing. Anyway, I could keep Steehl alive but we couldn't get his Health to zero.

I had gotten a drop of a golden hammer on the mission so I pulled it out and used it. Whenever I did Marcus'd switch to me. I'd back up and we started edging him down. I was sure we had him but just when I felt the victory coming he got a pin down on me and we lost.

It was a great mission though.

I would have left and tried again. I mean it's all well and good that you know you and your team can do the mission, but personally it still feels empty if you didn't contribute to that goal.
